Diwali (Deepavali) — the Festival of Lights — is the most widely celebrated Hindu festival, symbolising the victory of light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance.

Significance

Diwali marks Lord Rama's return to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile and his victory over Ravana. The lighting of diyas represents the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness. It is also associated with Goddess Lakshmi's blessings of wealth and prosperity.
